Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district, expressed condolences and reflections in a series of posts on social media between September 10 and September 12, 2025.
On September 10, Emmer responded to the news of Charlie Kirk's death with a message of sympathy: "We are devastated by this news. May Charlie rest in peace. Our prayers are with his wife and two children."
The following day, he marked the anniversary of the September 11 attacks, stating: "24 years ago, America endured a horrific terrorist attack by cowards with a hatred for our great nation. We forever honor the lives lost and the sacrifice of so many on that day. May we always remember the bravery, heroism, and resilience that rose from the ashes of tragedy."
On September 12, Emmer acknowledged law enforcement efforts in relation to Charlie Kirk's case: "Thankful to Utah law enforcement, Kash Patel, and the FBI for their tireless work to capture the cold-blooded killer of Charlie Kirk. Our prayers continue to be with Charlie’s wife, Erika, and their two young children. May justice be swift."
Emmer has represented Minnesota’s 6th District in Congress since 2015 after succeeding Michele Bachmann. He previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano at age 62, Emmer holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (1984) and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law (1988).
