Tom Emmer, U.S. Congressman representing Minnesota’s 6th district since 2015, posted a series of statements on social media criticizing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and expressing support for recent government actions.

On September 5, 2025, Emmer called for the resignation of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. In his post, he wrote: "Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has proven he would rather play politics than cut interest rates for hardworking Americans. I hope he course-corrects at the Fed’s meeting later this month. Either way, it’s past time for him to do the right thing and RESIGN."

Later that day, Emmer commented on a recent change in military nomenclature by stating: "Department of War is the right name for a military that fights to WIN. Excellent move, @POTUS and @SecWar." This message referenced an official decision by President Biden and Secretary of War to rename the Department of Defense.

On September 6, 2025, Emmer credited both House Republicans and President Biden with economic progress in manufacturing: "Thanks to the @HouseGOP and @POTUS' Working Families Tax Cut, American manufacturing is BACK."

Emmer has served in Congress since succeeding Michele Bachmann in 2015. Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2005 to 2011. Born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and currently residing in Delano, Emmer holds degrees from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (BA) and William Mitchell College of Law (JD).
