Tom Emmer, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota’s 6th district, has recently made several public statements via social media addressing state and national political issues. Emmer, who has represented his district in Congress since 2015 after previously serving in the Minnesota House of Representatives, frequently comments on state governance and federal policy matters.

On July 10, 2025, Emmer criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, stating in a tweet that "Reminder: Tim Walz doesn’t actually care about Minnesotans. He only cares about promoting himself on the national political stage at the taxpayers' expense. Classic scam artist."

Later that day, Emmer addressed concerns over hiring practices within Minnesota's state government. In a post dated July 10, 2025, he wrote: "Minnesotans suffer when our state’s employees are not hired based on their merits. @AAGDhillon is right to launch this investigation in an effort to return fairness and merit to the State of Minnesota’s hiring practices."

On July 11, 2025, Emmer commented on immigration enforcement actions by federal officers and criticized governors Gavin Newsom and Tim Walz for their stance toward law enforcement personnel. He stated: ".@ICEgov officers rescued 8 unaccompanied migrant children from potential exploitation, yet Gavin Newsom and Tim Walz continue to demonize these brave men and women. These governors don’t care about justice or safety, they care about their political agenda—whatever it costs."

Emmer was born in South Bend, Indiana in 1961 and resides in Delano. He holds a BA from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks (1984) and a JD from William Mitchell College of Law (1988).
