Washington County is the most expensive area to live in Minnesota, with residents having to make $3,551 each month for a modest standard of living.
An analysis from 24/7 Wall St. calculated the cost of living with the Economic Policy Institute's Family Budget Calculator, the Center Square reported. This includes transportation, housing, health care and food. The analysis found that in many of the locations identified, 30% or more is spent on housing.
Washington County has an average $903 monthly housing cost, with the median household bringing in $92,376.
"The May 2020 jobless rate there was 9.2 %," the Center Square reported. "Unemployment rates in these counties tended to be below the 13% national average during the coronavirus pandemic, while local population growth in recent years was above the U.S. average."
Counties in the analysis were ranked by cost of living per adult resident with modest income.
