The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced on March 30 that the final phase of the I-94 Gap Project between Monticello and Albertville will begin Tuesday, April 7.
The project is significant for drivers in Wright County as it aims to improve traffic flow along a busy corridor. During construction, work will focus on the eastbound lanes, with traffic in both directions shifted to the westbound lanes. This change will result in no shoulders, installation of concrete barriers, and reduced speed limits for motorists.
According to the announcement, when construction is completed this fall, Interstate 94 will have three lanes open in both directions throughout Wright County. The improvements are expected to ease congestion and enhance safety for travelers once finished.
The department urges drivers to be cautious during this period due to altered traffic patterns and limited space. Updates about lane closures or changes are expected as work progresses through the season.
